MEET THE HEAD RABBIT

Minna Pyyhkala was born under the magical northern lights of Finland. Often described as a dark, heavy and deeply isolated country, the artist seems to carry forth the traditional mood of her native country in her work (but adds her own unique and quirky sense of style and subtle humor). As a child, Pyyhkala immigrated to the United States. She grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and later moved to New York City. At the age of 23, she returned to Europe and lived in Prague until 2011 at which point she fell in love and moved back to Boston.

Minna has worked primarily as a commercial and fine art photographer over the past 20 years. She has exhibited in Japan, Finland, Germany, Austria, Poland and the USA and has had several art residencies abroad. One of the latest exhibitions which featured her work she curated herself and was staged in partnership with Amnesty International and the Czech Ministry of Defense. She also taught very successful art photo workshops in Prague for 10 years.

For eight years Minna worked in the film industry in Prague. She worked on many Hollywood blockbuster films, as well as television and indie films for which she served as the Director of Photography.  Minna has also worked with bands as a photographer and videographer.

In 2008 Minna started her own graphic design business. She specializes in cultural and art-related design projects; book layout and design, advertising posters as well as site specific installations. She spent 9 years working for high-end luxury real estate developers, top agents, and realtors. She is also interested in start-up projects, photographic essays, and interviews. She has also worked one-on-one with clients designing photo Memory Books for loved ones who have passed.

Over the course of her career, Minna has worked with clients such as The Discovery Channel, Radio Free Europe, The Wall Street Journal, Unilever Europe and much more.
