BUBENSKA BRANDING aka Super Studio Bubenska

BUBENSKA BRANDING aka Super Studio Bubenska

Bubenska opened to the public in 1935 and was the former home of the electric company for Czechoslovakia and later the main railway station for the City of Prague. The iconic building is considered one of the most important functionalist architectural structures from the 1930s in Prague.
The building sat empty for decades and many of the features deteriorated over time leaving the space raw and in need of reconstruction. Bubenska was acquired by Orco Property Group and is currently a 4,000 square meters home for art studios, small startups, offices, retail and cultural events.
The branding inside and outside the building was done on a shoestring budget and includes historic images on display as well as current commercial and residential properties.
Prague Design Group "Designblok" rented the entire building for its annual  Prague International Design Festival showcasing the largest selection of design and fashion from Central Europe.

VELVET 17 is an exhibit  inspired by the pivotal day of 17/11/1989, the freedom that day brought, and the responsibility that comes with freedom. What effect does the fall of communism have upon Czechs in the present? Freedom is costly. The mundane rhythm of life punctuated with holidays often lulls people into forgetting the very reason they can travel with such freedom. Velvet 17 explores the shedding of communism for a new way of life, how Czech society has adapted to that change, the prevailing existence of xenophobia, and the evolution of the social mindset in the past 21 years.

This exhibition is under the patronage of Sasha Vondra, Czech Minister of Defense and partnered with Amnesty International. Curated by Head Rabbit Minna Pyyhkala.

In Prague, I worked on an international art festival called TINA B -  an acronym for "This is Not Another Bienalle." Tina B. emerged on the art scene as a fictional female character who morphed her image each year to attract fans of contemporary art to Prague. The exhibit consisted of a series of international exhibitions, performances, and installations throughout the city as well as hosting educational activities and other special events.
TINA B. pursued an innovative concept of presenting contemporary art in unconventional places outside the traditional venues such as museums, galleries, and other cultural institutions. Various exhibitions were presented at historic and prestigious locations throughout the centre of Prague and the surrounding area during the seven-week festival. Artworks by approximately 90 artists from countries including Canada, Finland, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Austria, Japan, Sweden, and the United States, as well as by local Czech artists, were on view.
I worked as a curator, artist, art coordinator and designed the catalogue.
